I just built the LEGO Flying Ford Anglia set from Harry Potter. It was a fun build that did not take too much time.

Personally, I am a huge fan of the HP world so this set was a must-have. Surprisingly, it’s not a bad price either.

In this post, I will go over the set details and share my thoughts throughout the build.

Set Inspiration

If you’re a fan of Hogwarts, then you probably can skip this section.

This build was inspired by the second Harry Potter movie, Chamber of Secrets, where Harry and Ron take a bewitched Ford Anglia to Hogwarts after missing the train.

It’s interesting to note that this is the third LEGO set that included the bewitched car.

The first one came out in 2002 (4728 Escape from Privet Drive). The other was released in 2018 (75953 Hogwarts Whomping Willow).

First Impressions

Black LEGO box containing LEGO Ford Anglia set

As an HP fan, it’s hard not to love the box art. The graphics of Harry and Ron in action with the car is fun.

Plus, it has the trademark Harry Potter (and the whole gang) on the box.

Two plastic bags filled with LEGO pieces

The set comes with two numbered bags. There is a small sheet for stickers to place labels on the dashboard and license plates.

Build Experience

For such a compact set, the Flying Ford Anglia manages to be a surprisingly engaging build.

With just 165 pieces, it takes about 30 minutes at a relaxed pace. I do love taking my time to build sets so it could be built much quicker.

Partially built chassis with red, black, blue, and grey colored blocks.

The chassis is relatively straightforward with not much to report.

But the rear shaping stands out: LEGO swapped in a 1×2 slope element without the traditional grille, which lets the back taper more cleanly than older Anglia versions.

The result is smoother lines and a more accurate silhouette without needing stickers to “fake” detail.

The car without the roof showing the trunk and cabin

The steep wheel arch assembly also feels a step closer to Speed Champions techniques than typical Harry Potter cars, and it gives the model a sturdier stance.

In this version, there is enough room to fit both Harry and Ron, which is a big improvement.

Removing the roof to seat Harry and Ron side by side is simple, but it is a bit cramped inside.

The car with the hood and front windshield attached

The trunk build is straightforward, though it’s fun because there is a small suitcase included that you can load in.

There’s even space on the parcel shelf for Hedwig, which stays true to the film.

Minifigures & Characters

This set includes a unique batch of minifigs and characters. You get Ron and Harry (of course), but you also get Scabbers and Hedwig.

Scabbers (rat), Ron Weasley, Harry Potter, and Hedwig (owl)

I like this because it stays true to the book (and movie).

There is enough space for Hedwig to fit in the cabin.

Scabbers gets put in the trunk (lol). Both Harry and Ron have a wand and they can fit in the seats.

It is a bit of a squeeze to get Harry, Ron, and Hedwig in there but nonetheless they do fit.

This set also includes a small little brown suitcase that can fit in the trunk as well. Or, should I say ‘boot’.

Completed Set Overview

Overall, the build is a good balance of accessibility (easy for kids to follow) and interest (smart part usage that AFOLs will notice).

It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but at this price point, the tweaks add up to a genuinely satisfying little build.

The nice, bright blue color is a more accurate representation than previous versions.

The minifigures and characters are fun. I really like how LEGO incorporated them into the design.

Cons: Tight cabin, stickers (blah)
Pros: Great price, intricate details, color accuracy

Final Thoughts

Given the recent price drops, this set is easy money. Even if you don’t love Harry Potter, you can take a relaxing LEGO break for under $15 with this build.

Of course, if you are a HP fan (like me), then you should probably buy this right now.

Difficulty: Easy
Would I build it again: No
Build score: 6/10
